01 Background

The NSIA Act 2011 established the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority to manage Nigeria's sovereign wealth fund, seeded initially with US$1bn. It creates three ring-fenced funds — the Stabilisation Fund, the Future Generations Fund and the Nigeria Infrastructure Fund — with a defined governance and investment mandate, moving beyond the discretionary Excess Crude Account.
