Domesticated the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement — phased tariff elimination on 90% of products over 10 years.
The AfCFTA Implementation Act domesticated the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement that Nigeria signed in July 2019. It commits Nigeria to phased tariff elimination on 90% of products over 5-10 years (depending on sector sensitivity), establishes the National Implementation Committee, and creates the framework for Nigerian businesses to access the largest single market in the world by country count (54 African states). Trading under AfCFTA preferences began January 2021.
