01 Background

Signed by Goodluck Jonathan while he was Acting President, the Local Content Act 2010 requires minimum Nigerian participation in the award of oil and gas contracts, jobs and services. It establishes the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), creates a 1% Nigerian Content Development Fund levy on contracts, and grants first-consideration rights to Nigerian firms and labour.
