01 Background

Popularly known as the Not Too Young To Run Act, this Fourth Alteration lowered the minimum age to contest key elective offices: President from 40 to 35, House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly from 30 to 25. Ratified by 33 of 36 state assemblies before presidential assent, it broadened youth political participation.
