01 Background

The Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 criminalised acts of terrorism and terrorism financing and empowered security agencies to proscribe organisations. Its 2013 amendment added extraterritorial application, strengthened terrorism-financing offences and made the Office of the National Security Adviser the coordinating body. It was repealed and replaced by the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022.
