Landmark law prohibiting all forms of violence against persons, broadening the definition of rape and criminalising FGM.
The VAPP Act 2015 prohibits violence against persons in private and public life, defining around 26 offences including gender-neutral rape, spousal battery, female genital mutilation, forced isolation and economic abuse. It provides protection orders and victim compensation and designates NAPTIP as administering agency; originally applying to the FCT, it has been adopted state by state.
